I grew up in rural eastern New Mexico in the small town of Tucumcari.  Some of my best memories were spending weekends with my grandparents on their ranch. I especially enjoyed going out on little day trips with my Grandma to various places to draw the scenes around us.

My grandmother loved old houses, buildings, etc. to draw. I specifically remember asking her, “Why draw all these old buildings and stuff?” She said, “Because they have a story to tell.”

I love the stories that are all around us. Drawing up things, photography and writing are things I love to do to tell a story.

The drawings and doodles I create help me tell the stories and laugh.  Growing up as an only child, I had to entertain myself lots! I would often draw to make myself laugh. Thus, I enjoy the “not too serious” ease of doodles and sketching.

I think reality is often times stranger than fiction, so digging into family stories and area history has been a fun adventure.  I have been discovering that sometimes the best stories are right in front of you. You just have to take a look around every so often.
